The Palencia Factory is now ready for the production of the first of the vehicles of the Industrial Plan 2021-2024 and for this it has been preparing for almost a year and a half to have the most innovative facilities, the most demanding quality controls and all of this under modern environmental parameters: the Renault Austral.
This new model is at the forefront of innovation in the sector, proof of this is that it has been industrialized with the new CMF-CD Alliance platform, which gives it flexibility with a view to future awards and 400 new robots have been installed up to total of 1,320 in the welding area. It is also a pilot factory within Manufacturing 4.0, with technologies as advanced as the fault diagnosis program (DAVE), the Digital Portal of the Head of Unit and digital cameras. It also has 100% automated secondary flows and synchronized processes from suppliers to dealers, as demonstrated by the Fast Track vehicle delivery program.
In addition, the innovations launched in the factory coinciding with the arrival of Austral are all aimed at ensuring high quality standards in the manufacture of the vehicle. This is demonstrated by: the variable height balancers throughout the entire vehicle manufacturing process, which helps ergonomics and therefore the quality of operations; automatic aspect control at the outlet of the stuffing line; geometric quality control with perceptron welding robots; the automatic defect detection tunnel, the new two-tone painting and finishing line to offer the Group’s first vehicle with satin paint, which is also the first two-tone vehicle manufactured in Palencia; the new ADAS benches for hyperconnected vehicles; the direct feed back from the dealerships that allows incidents to be reduced by 60% and the ‘Confirmation Run’ test drive through which more than 150 vehicles run 2 million kilometers in 6 months to guarantee the total quality of the product that is put on the market.
