They find twins of Jupiter and the Sun

An international team of scientists has discovered a planet equal to Jupiter orbiting a star very similar to our Sun, called HIP 11915. In addition, both are at distances very similar to ours , as if from the beginning of a planetary system that is twin to ours. it will be …

According to current theories, the arrangement of our solar system, with small rocky planets in the inner areas and gas giant planets like Jupiter, in the outer ones, provide an ideal environment for life . This is why discovering another Jupiter could be the key to finding other planetary systems in which we could find that “treasure.”

The planet and the star just discovered thanks to the HARPS instrument of the 3.6-meter telescope of the European Southern Observatory (ESO), at the La Silla Observatory in Chile, are, according to astronomers’ data, identical to Jupiter and the Sun in both their mass as by the distance that separates them both , as if they emulated a piece of our solar system. It is the most analogous system to ours ever discovered.

According to scientists, the star HIP 11915 could be the protagonist of hosting a planetary system similar to ours: “ The search for an Earth 2.0 and a complete solar system 2.0 constitute one of the most exciting challenges for astronomy . We are delighted to be part of this cutting-edge research, which has been made possible thanks to ESO’s observation facilities, ”explains Jorge Melendez, from the University of Sao Paulo (Brazil) and leader of the study.
