They send invoices of 200 euros to the guests who did not attend their wedding

A wedding usually involves many preparations and, above all, it involves a large outlay of money that many couples take on with effort because they know that their guests will respond and have a good time on their wedding day. Sometimes it happens that many guests decide not to attend the event, leaving an empty plate at the celebration and charging the bride and groom with extra costs.

This is precisely what happened to a Chicago couple, Doug Simmons and Dedra McGree, who decided to get married and share that day with their closest family and friends. The chosen venue was a luxury hotel in Jamaica and all the guests received their wedding passes.

As they explained to the New York Post, the couple contacted all the guests and many called them up to four times to certify their attendance at the wedding. When the wedding day arrived, the couple found that a third of the guests did not show up.

They never gave a “no”

As the couple tells the well-known American media, “four times we asked: ‘Are you available to come? Can you attend? ‘ And they kept saying ‘Yes’. We had to pay in advance in Jamaica »they explain.

This lack of guests at their marriage meant that they had to throw a lot of food in the trash, in addition to the couple’s anger at meeting very few people at their wedding, one of the most special days of their lives.

They quickly made a drastic decision that has been widely discussed in recent days on social networks. Doug and Dedra decided to write to these non-wedding attendees with a message and a bill of 240 dollars (220 euros): “You are so special to us that we invited you to our wedding. However, we are going to break that relationship for $ 240 (about 200 euros) because you did not let us show it to you in person. But we will send an invitation to our ‘baby shower’ at some point, so present yourself with a gift.

According to the couple, this decision was not made for the money, rather because they felt hurt in the absence of many of their guests. “Nobody said anything or texted saying ‘Hey, we can’t attend.’ If you tell me that you cannot attend, I will understand, but do not shut up and then let me pay for you and your companions »they clarified for the American newspaper.

Now the question remains if the guests who did not attend the link will pay their own bill.
