Are we, perhaps, before the beginning of the end of Bitcoin ? Although it is quite possible that this is not the case, the reality is that experts are wondering if the collapse that Bitcoin has suffered at an economic level may be affecting the different trading platforms.
And it is that, at the moment, the services of Kraken, Binance and Coinbase are experiencing operational problems as a result of the avalanche of users who are trying to access their wallets .
In a few hours, different users have begun to report that they are having problems when entering these pages and, above all, when accessing their online accounts.
In fact, Coinbase itself, through its official Twitter profile (Coinbase Support), has warned that they are experiencing “delays in withdrawals of ETH and ERC-20” and “intermittent downtime”.
On the other hand, another of the platforms, Binance , has also reported that it has paused some withdrawals of cryptocurrencies in order to face panic , something very common when situations of large falls in value occur.
This platform, also through its official profile on Twitter, explains that “withdrawals of $ ETH and ERC20 are temporarily disabled due to network congestion. Thank you for your patience and apologies for the inconvenience. “
The same would be happening with other similar platforms, such as Coingecko and Kraken , which are also suffering drops because they do not allow cryptocurrency withdrawals.
A black day for Bitcoin
This whole situation is coming on a black day for the cryptocurrency sector, especially after drops have occurred globally following the ban on payments with Bitcoins in China .
We must remember that, already last week, a new fall was registered after Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, announced that he would no longer accept cryptocurrency as a form of payment for his electric vehicles, due to its supposed environmental impact .
As Musk noted in a tweet a few days ago, “We are concerned about the rapid increase in the use of fossil energy for bitcoin mining and transactions, especially coal.” To which he added that “cryptocurrencies are a good idea … but it cannot be at the expense of great cost to the environment.”
This information fell like a bomb in the world of cryptocurrencies, with Bitcoin plummeting 9 percent, down to $ 49,500, the lowest value in nearly a month.
On this occasion, after it became known that China has prohibited banks from operating cryptocurrencies, Bitcoin has plummeted, falling more than 21%, Shiba 48%, Dogecoin 42% and Ethereum 31% . Figures that are greatly worrying investors in cryptocurrencies, to which are added other reasons for the alarm: the falls registered by the different platforms.
