Trial in brawl over spicy food postponed

Because of the illness of the injured party and one of the two accused, the case could not be heard on Friday morning: it is about an argument in a Chinese restaurant.

Potsdam – The trial of a fight over spicy food in a Chinese restaurant has been postponed.

The presiding judge announced on Friday morning before the start of the hearing at the Potsdam district court that the process would be postponed due to the injured party becoming ill, as a dpa reporter reported. In addition, the older of the two accused was seriously ill and therefore unable to stand trial. The main hearing is now scheduled to begin on June 3rd. The defense could not find an earlier date, the court said.

The trial involves a physical altercation between two restaurant workers and a guest. He didn’t want to pay for his food because he thought it was too spicy. As a result, two employees of a Chinese restaurant in Teltow are said to have brutally beaten the man in front of the restaurant. A good year and a half after the fact, the two 54 and 46-year-old employees should answer on Friday (9:00 a.m.) before the Potsdam district court for joint dangerous bodily harm. According to the indictment, the guest suffered a minor concussion and bruises.

A witness is said to have come to his aid who separated the parties to the dispute. According to the indictment, one of the employees then tried to hit the guest with a cobblestone. The arbiter also prevented this. He is to be heard as a witness at the trial. dpa
