Twitch is home to streaming stars like Montana-Black to Critical. Now a hacker has published all the source code including the earnings of the stars.
Frankfurt – A previously unknown hacker posted a data package for download on an Internet portal on Wednesday (October 6th, 2021). This includes, among other things, income, plans for the future and the complete source code of the streaming platform Twitch. The Amazon subsidiary is a streaming service that is used for the live transmission of games or other things.
The hitherto unknown hacker allegedly released a data package of 135 gigabytes of data connected to the video platform – and it could only be the first of its kind. The data package contains everything from source codes and payments to the planning of new services, i.e. all trade secrets
Twitch hackers: “Twitch community a toxic cesspool”
In an accompanying text to the publications, the hacker writes that the Twitch community is a: “toxic cesspool”. The aim of the leak is to promote competition in the streaming market. In addition to the entire source code of Twitch.tv and other Twitch offers, it contains the security consoles and all creator income from 2019 to today.
At the end of the day, the hacker was amused and said that Jeff Bezos, the head of Amazon, once paid $ 970 million for Twitch and said: “We’ll give it to you for free”.
Twitch: “We can confirm that there has been an incident”
When asked by Der Spiegel, Twitch said, “We can confirm that there has been an incident,” and continued, “Our teams are working flat out to understand the extent of the incident. We will keep the community up to date as soon as new information is available. “
The German medium Heise-online confirms on its own account that the data is correct and that Twitch was actually completely hacked. The “twitch_payouts” folder alone is already 5 gigabytes in size and contains payment information for the world’s largest Twitch streamers. German streamers like Montana-Black can also be found in this list. Regarding the numbers, it must be said that such payments still have to be taxed in Germany.
