Vivija, between prayers and songs

The Ecuadorian artist presented the song “Solo el”, which is part of her new EP, “Aqui”; Furthermore, he remembers his presentation in front of Pope Francis in Guayaquil.

He has just presented the EP “Aqui”, the beginning of a new stage as an artist. Where did the idea for this work come from?

Here it came out of a compilation of sentences that, in one way or another, became songs. In this new stage I am showing myself more vulnerable and open in my art. I always felt much more connected with artists who expressed their being without coverage in their proposal and who allowed themselves to be seen through their compositions.

How do you determine the elements that accompany this new EP and in what genre would you like to categorize it?

Many people would say that it is Christian music, because of the lyrics of the songs; but I like to characterize it as pop with lyrics that reach the heart. For example, Solo el es pop with folk instruments, which give the song an extra and warm touch.

What is the current status of Christian music?

The Christian genre is something that is growing at the moment, there are many artists who are dedicated to creating quality Christian music and that makes my heart happy.

What is the message that you bring us with your songs?

I hope to bring a message that gives hope to those who listen to the songs, that allows them to enter into an intimate relationship with our creator and that they open their hearts to receive all the love that he has for us.

How was the process of making the video clip for the song “Solo el”?

The video process was pretty easy for me. As we sat down to brainstorm ideas for the video, it immediately came to mind to show the places where I have gone to give myself a little escape during quarantine. For example, I would drive to Malibu and park my car in those places looking for an escape from confinement, they gave me that peace and confidence that I seek to convey in the song Solo el. I directed and edited the video, and had the help of Kim Taleas on camera and recording.

Where did your taste for music begin?

What I share with you, my mother told me, because I don’t remember it. At the age of four I began to ask for gift musical instruments for Christmas and my birthday. He tells me that he asked for a “tin tin” (piano), microphone and guitar, and that he always played with them. And now, with 27 years old, I can say that my taste for music has been with me since I can remember, practically music has always been part of me.

Tell us about your experience introducing yourself to Pope Francis …

That is one of the most beautiful experiences I have ever had. It was a great honor to be part of the group that performed the welcome song for Pope Francis in Guayaquil (Ecuador). Before his arrival, we were on various stages presenting the song, and on the day of arrival we were the first group to sing for him in all of Latin America. It was an unforgettable moment for me.

What is your musical dream?

I seek to create art that reaches the hearts of the people who listen to it. Lyrics that connect your soul with God, that serve as a bridge to heaven. I would love to collaborate with artists like Steffany Gretzinger, renowned Anglo-Christian singer and music writer. My dream now is to publish music in English and open up my field in other countries.

What are your current projects?

Much more music is coming. I am days away from releasing my new song, Vuela, after that I will publish another EP, in addition to having some collaborations with other artists and many more music videos.
