The weather in Germany is about to change. Extreme storms could soon be an end, according to an expert.
Offenbach – It’s a summer of extremes. While heat records have already been set in southern Europe, Germany has been struggling with storms, heavy rain and hail for weeks. Will things continue to be so changeable, cloudy and especially wet or will it be really warm again in summer? According to an expert, the weather * should change again in July.
The first and so far only heat wave was in mid-June. In many regions, the 30-degree mark was cracked over several days. Such temperatures were already extreme for June, actually they are more likely to be expected in July or August. But it didn’t look like that so far, and many people long for sun and warmth. A weather expert is now giving them hope and explaining why summer * practically fell into the water this year.

Weather in Germany: Is summer making a comeback? Expert with good news
The fact that summer has not yet prevailed in Germany is mainly due to the strong jet over the Atlantic. It sends cool air into the country, which then meets warm air from the Mediterranean. An explosive mixture and ideal for thunderstorms * and storms *. But summer should come back in mid-July, according to meteorologist Jan Schenk from weather.com. And that is mainly due to the Azores high.
“Something will change,” says Schenk. It should be warmer by the weekend (July 17-18, 2021). The Azores high is finally getting stronger and frees the country from thunderstorms and storms. The cool air is diverted and then hits the east of Europe. “And we get warm air from the south and with it the summer comes back to Germany,” said the meteorologist. But how long does the warm weather stay?
| date | forecast |
|---|---|
| Friday (July 16, 2021) | 19 to 29 degrees, all in all more beautiful and more sunshine, individual thunderstorms |
| Saturday (July 17th, 2021) | 22 to 28 degrees, mix of sun, showers and thunderstorms |

Weather: High in the Azores drives out thunderstorms – How long does the heat last in Germany?
Schenk has good news here too: This means that the summer weather can last for at least a week, maybe even up to three weeks. In contrast, meteorologist Dominik Jung from wetter.net expresses himself a little more cautiously.
“From the weekend things could get friendlier: more sun, less rain and warm summer everywhere. The development is still a bit uncertain, ”he explains. At least the forecast for the coming days shows that the temperatures are slowly rising again. The 30 degree mark could also be reached in some regions of Germany. And what about the forecast for the rest of the summer?
