Instead of snow and cold, forecasts by meteorologists are currently preparing for April weather and storms.
Wiesbaden – Instead of meters of snow, winter in most regions of Germany in 2022 will bring more rain, storms and sleet showers. February is in full swing, the first blossoms are appearing, the temperatures are rising in many places and destroying the hope of snow.
“Winter is struggling, but spring is resisting,” is how qualified meteorologist Dominik Jung from the Hessian weather service Wetter.net summarizes the current weather situation and announces April weather for Friday. At the weekend, the temperatures are then supposed to drop briefly in the medium range, but there can be no talk of the onset of winter.

Next storm in Germany: Meteorologist predicts gusts from next week
Instead, February, especially in the second half of the month, could bring more storms after the first lows of the year, the meteorologist warns and also indicates that there could be more precipitation during the month. The reason for this is an overall mild western weather situation, which gives little hope for classic winter weather.
In his weather news, Jung predicts spring-like temperatures for Wednesday (February 9th, 2022), especially in southern Germany. Temperatures are also approaching the 10 degree mark in the north – but it remains cloudy in many places. After an unstable Thursday, a cold front will hit Germany on Friday, which can lead to isolated sleet showers and slippery roads in the north. The weekend then promises to be cold but clear.

Little chance of snow in February: Winter temperatures unusually mild
In the coming week, there will be more stormy and gusty times in large parts of Germany, and according to Jung, the first gusts of wind can be expected from Tuesday.
Jung doesn’t give his viewers much hope of another onset of winter in February: The mean temperatures for western Germany are comparatively unusual “for the high winter month of February” and hardly ever fall significantly below zero degrees. So until at least February 23, February is extremely rare. (ska)
