The summer in Germany has so far been more wet than warm. When it comes to the weather in the coming weeks, an expert has bad news.
Offenbach – So far, summer has not really arrived in Hesse and Germany. Heat and gray rain clouds alternate cheerfully. “Germany sits between stools,” says expert Dominik Jung. Nothing should change in the weather for the time being. The expert gives a horror forecast for the rest of the summer!
The heat wave in Eastern Europe is causing temperatures in the Arctic Circle at unimagined heights of up to 34 degrees Celsius, and a heat wave is also currently rolling over the southwest of Europe. In Spain, temperatures of up to 48 degrees are expected on the weekend. It is possible that the European record set in 1977 will be broken (48.0 degrees Celsius in Greece). “After all, we’re sitting in the middle of it all, surrounded by the heat,” says Jung.
Weather in Germany: More storms on the way
Little consolation, even if such extremely high temperatures are anything but pleasant. Nevertheless, people in Germany are hoping for at least some summer feeling in the coming days and weeks. But according to the weather forecast, that will probably not happen. “Germany is sitting in a kind of cold hole, at least when you compare it with the weather around it. Even north of the Arctic Circle, values of over 34 degrees are higher than in our country. But we always get all the storms and that won’t change for the time being, ”Jung told the wetter.com portal.
- The weather forecast for the coming days:
- Saturday (July 10th, 2021): 18 to 25 degrees, mix of sun and clouds, from the afternoon new thunderstorms from the west with potential for severe weather
- Sunday (07/11/2021): 21 to 25 degrees, mixed, individual showers and thunderstorms next to sunshine
- Monday (July 12th, 2021): 22 to 33 degrees, mix of sun, clouds and showers
- Tuesday (July 13th, 2021): 16 to 26 degrees, partly friendly, partly showers and thunderstorms
- Wednesday (July 14th, 2021): 6pm to 11pm, still mixed, in the east and south heavy rain at times
So it remains a summer with a lot of rain. In Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg on Thursday (July 8th, 2021), over 85 liters of rain per square meter fell locally within 12 hours. “Nevertheless, the summer has not been cold yet. We’ll see that in June. It was wet, but also the third warmest summer since 1881, ”explains weather expert Jung. The German Weather Service in Offenbach also predicts storms with heavy rain and thunderstorms for the coming days.
Weather in Germany: summer temperatures still in July?
Also in the coming days storms and floods are possible in Germany due to VB weather conditions. “There is initially no escape,” says weather expert Dominik Jung.
Only in the second half of July could it turn into a summer month. According to a US weather model, temperatures over 30 degrees Celsius are then possible. It would be a nice change from the previously not cold but wet summer in Germany. (esa)
