Kassel – At the turn of the year it will be warm and sometimes stormy in Germany this year. The German Weather Service (DWD) has published weather warnings for some regions.
Mild air masses that flow to us from the Atlantic also ensure exceptionally high temperatures on New Year’s Eve *. The weather turns spring-like on December 31st, with more sunshine in the south. In the north it is cloudy and rainy. The temperatures are between 10 degrees in the north and 17 degrees in the southwest. In many places it remains mild at night, with temperatures dropping to 11 to 3 degrees.
Weather on New Year’s Eve: DWD warns of gusts of wind and stormy gusts
“In the north there is also the wind and it is stormy,” explains meteorologist Adrienne Jeske from wetter.net. The DWD has published weather warnings for several regions. Especially in the northwest, on the North Sea and in the higher mountains, there can be stormy gusts, warns the DWD. In a few exposed ridge and summit locations, heavy gusts of wind up to gale-force gusts of 90 to 115 km / h are possible.
A level 2 warning applies to some regions. There the DWD warns of falling objects or branches. For other regions in Germany a weather warning of level 1 applies to wind gusts. In the regions affected, there can be gusts of 55 to 60 km / h – many districts in Hesse and Lower Saxony are also affected.
