Coffee is the most widely consumed beverage in developed countries, mainly in Europe and the United States. On average, a person consumes 1.3 kilograms of coffee worldwide. Those who consume the most coffee are the Finns (12 kilograms per person per year), followed by the Norwegians (almost 10 kg per person), the Swedes (8.4 kg) and the Dutch (8.2). In Italy, despite the fame of this hot drink, they consume "only" 5.9 kg per person per year, somewhat less than in Germany (6.4 kg). Spain ranks 19th in the world ranking, with a consumption of 4.5 kilograms of coffee per person every twelve months. In 20th place is the United States (4.1 kilograms per person).
Of the coffee-producing countries, the one that consumes the most is Brazil (5.6 kilograms). Although Mexico is one of the world's leading coffee producers, per capita consumption is extraordinarily low, at 1.2 kg.
