What is a hybrid car and how is it driven?

Hybrid cars are very fashionable. The new measures designed for the conservation and protection of the environment increasingly encourage the search for alternatives to gasoline and diesel, and hybrids are one of them.

However, many have doubts about what exactly a hybrid vehicle is, how it works and what advantages it brings compared to other types of combustion.

The first thing to be clear about is that all vehicles have a way of storing energy, which will end up being transformed into the force that will move the car. Unlike gasoline vehicles, which use the explosion of fuel and air to release energy, and electric vehicles, which store energy in a battery to later convert it into mechanical movement, hybrids are those that have two or more different propellants , in order to complement them for more efficient operation.

Joining forces

This is achieved by combining a conventional combustion engine with an electric one, which is capable of converting electrical energy into movement and of recovering this movement during braking, converting it into electrical energy that is stored again in the batteries. In this way, the hybrid achieves greater efficiency, as well as a significant reduction in consumption. It is also essential that the vehicle is not obliged to use the heat engine in situations where it would consume a lot of fuel, such as, for example, when starting the mark or when moving with very little acceleration.

Although it is true that, to this day, there is no model that is totally ecological , since cleaning does not depend only on its operation, but it is also about achieving complete compatibility of the car throughout its life cycle, It is also true that hybrids are more respectful with the environment, since they emit less CO2 and reduce polluting emissions, considerably lower than those of equivalent combustion models. In addition, the fact that the hybrid engine is much more efficient than the conventional combustion engine translates into considerable fuel savings for the owner.

Tax advantages

Being a car classified as responsible with the environment , it also has certain benefits when pollution protocols are applied in large cities. Finally, they offer an important advantage over pure electric: autonomy. A hybrid, thanks to its gasoline engine, is capable of traveling many kilometers without having to stop at a gas station or charge the electric battery.

However, it is important to know these types of cars well in order to get optimum performance from them. When starting, we must do it smoothly, since this is how the electric motor works. In most cases, the gasoline engine turns on and off automatically according to the demand for acceleration or deceleration; while, at specific moments that require more power, we will need both engines to join forces. Despite everything, driving a hybrid has no secrets. In fact, the car itself teaches us to drive efficiently, with the help of the vehicle’s control panel, which can serve as a reference to maximize efficiency while driving.
