Although it is usually related to zoophilia, formicophilia is a different paraphilia in which the particularity lies in obtaining sexual pleasure through direct contact with small animals in erogenous zones of the body such as the penis, clitoris, chest or anus but is not establishes sexual contact as it happens in zoophilia.
The most common animals in this practice are ants, although it can also occur with snails, frogs, bees or worms . All those who suffer from this paraphilia feel a great excitement when these insects or small animals walk, bite or sting in the areas where they are placed (cause this injury or not) or with any movement through the body that generates some type of stimulation sexual.
Formicofílicos usually have sexual fantasies with animals covering their body and entering the different cavities of the same . The term was coined by researchers Ratnin Dewaraja and John Money in 1986 in their publication in the American Journal of Psychotherapy (vol. 41) and its etymology comes from the Latin formica (ant) + the Greek philia (love).
The areas of the planet in which there is more inclination towards formicophilia are those in the process of development, since insects have more direct access to homes and therefore also to contact with the people who live there.
As we say, this paraphilia usually involves the application of insects on the genitals, but other areas of the body can also represent the object of desire or attraction in relation to small insects. Perhaps what you want is a slight tingling or if it is slugs, for example, a slimy sensation.
In the first confirmed study of this paraphilia, the patient had started accumulating ants in a closet in his bedroom as a hobby when he was nine years old. At this age he enjoyed the “tickling sensation” of ants crawling on his legs and thighs. At the age of ten, he had a sexual relationship with another boy and when his father discovered him he beat him up. When he reached 13 or 14 years of age, he also added snails and cockroaches to the ants in his collection, becoming increasingly attached to these insects.
In fact, he had started to masturbate while ants crawled on his legs . When he turned 28, he masturbated several times a week while cockroaches crawled up his thighs and testicles, and snails crawled up his nipples and penis. Although the patient was not comfortable with this sexual enjoyment, he was unable to orgasm or derive pleasure from normal sexual intercourse.
Another case was also described later, in 2012 , when at the age of 14, the patient began to let ants crawl through his genitals, especially fire ants, something that was tremendously exciting -sexually speaking-, continuing with this habit until Adulthood. According to the report, the formicophilia patient had no social problems.
