The International Safe Internet Day is an event that has been celebrated every February 11 since 2003 and that has the support of more than 70 countries around the world and whose objective is to raise awareness about the use of the Internet, especially among the younger audience.
Under the slogan "Together we can make a better internet", this year the celebration of the International Safe Internet Day (SID in English) is marked by the intention of putting a brake on the digital divide in the world, promoting both dialogue and joint work between countries.
The event comes from the hand of the European Commission, as well as INSAFE, the European Network for a Safe Internet.
In Spain, the body in charge of promoting and organizing the International Safe Internet Day is the NGO Protégeles .
Children are the main frame of this call. Promoting a safer and more responsible use of the Internet among children and young people is a priority every year , because they are the most vulnerable sector of society.
To commemorate this day, the organizations of each country have prepared a series of events to reflect on the relevance that the Internet has in our lives.
In our country, Protégeles and the Internet Security Center organize the 3rd edition of the National Congress "Young and on the Net", which is held in the Assembly Hall of the Secretary of State for Telecommunications in Madrid and which will include students, associations of parents of students, teachers, ICT professionals and members of the state security forces.
