The topic says that soccer, rugby and other team sports are substitutes for war, but that ended in 2009, when the first world championship of The Battle of the Nations took place, a substitute warlike that leaves the entrances with the tacos in front and the melés in children’s games.
What it is about here is spanking without compassion, with an extravagant peculiarity: its participants dress like medieval knights and soldiers – armor included – and use very exact replicas of the weapons of that time, conveniently manipulated so as not to cause serious damage.
It is a so-called full contact competition, but do not be afraid: the duels and combats take place under the control of bailiffs (referees) – also dressed in medieval clothing – and under strict regulations, so the blood does not reach the river. Or at least, not more than necessary. Bullets are limited to certain protected areas and can only be hit with specific pieces of weaponry.
There are different modalities, but, basically, the fights take place in three rounds with different weapons in which the contestant who delivers the most strong and clean blows to the opponent wins. During the competitions, real pitched battles (21 against 21) or smaller ones (five against five, individual duels …) take place.
If he puts the matter on you, you are in time to attend the 2016 Battle of the Nations, which will take place in Prague from May 5 to 9 and in which fighters from 35 countries are expected. The beer will flow! (and some blood).
