It is a method of psychoanalysis created by the Swiss psychiatrist Hermann Rorschach, born in Zurich on November 8, 1884. This famous test, which he named after him, led him to fame, as it is one of the most popular psychology techniques. known all over the world. Simple ink blots was what Rorschach used to find out about the personalities of his patients.
This method was used for the first time in 1921, after the publication of his famous work Psychodiagnostik . The test consists of the patient interpreting accidental forms, that is, images without a certain configuration, in order to be able to glimpse their personality traits through their responses. There are no right or wrong answers, just more or less conventional ideas. If the individual responds in an unusual way, it will reflect a detachment from reality. Despite its lack of scientific rigor, the method is widely accepted in the psychoanalytic community.
The curious plates have a bilateral symmetry, the result of the way they were created: folding a sheet of paper in half, with an ink stain in the middle. Five of them are black and white, and the other five contain colors (red, blue, green, yellow or orange).
