What will happen to my HBO Max subscription? And with the Champions?

HBO has been renewed more than once, and each time it has, it has prompted questions from users. When the service announced that a new streaming option would be coming to the country under the title HBO Max , many fans wondered about the future of their accounts . What will happen to subscriptions?

Now, after HBO Max and Discovery+ will combine to offer their service through a single streaming platform, called Warner Bros. Discovery , users have doubts again.

According to what was said by David Zaslav, CEO of this new platform, the service will come with more diverse content.

What will happen to lifetime subscriptions?

HBO Max has had no comment on this question. But, if you have already paid for the service as a user, it will remain at the same price until autumn 2023, the estimated date on which the entertainment company will formalize this new strategy.

Therefore, the name of the service will remain the same, as will the offer of exclusive content, such as the Champions League; which will have a new broadcast season in August of this year.

What has also been confirmed is that Warner Bros. Discovery is considering free ad-supported services that would exist alongside its subscription service, though how this service will operate has not yet been indicated.

“We will launch an improved product that will have content from Discovery plus and HBO Max,” the company said in a written statement to Expansión.

And the movies that are no longer?

HBO Max users had the bad news this week of not having six movies on their platform: Moonshot, Superintelligence, The Witches, An American Picke, Locked Down and Charm City Kings. In addition, the company canceled Bat Girl, one of its productions in development.

“The decision not to release Batgirl reflects the strategic shift in our leadership as it relates to the DC Universe and HBO Max,” a Warner Bros. Pictures spokesperson said in a statement.

At the moment, these six films will not return to the catalog.

However, the entertainment conglomerate confirmed that it achieved 92.1 million paying subscribers, a discreet but consolidated increase, from its 76.8 million subscriptions that it indicated to have in the last quarter.

The new numbers do not include Discovery’s 10 million subscribers or AT&T accounts.
