Would you like to use custom backgrounds for each of your WhatsApp conversations? It is already possible. If you feel like it and you don’t see it chaotic, certainly using wallpapers to all our chats offers us an excellent visual way of knowing in which group or conversation we are immersed (and giving them a touch of color and life).
Until now, WhatsApp only allowed its users to set a common custom wallpaper for all chats. If you were using it before, this new improvement will make you like it even more.
Improving customization features
It’s complicated? No way. The first thing you will have to do is update to the latest version of WhatsApp through Google Play or the App Store; start the application, access a conversation or group and touch the name of the person with whom we are chatting (or the name of the group, if it is the case) at the top of the chat. This will open the conversation settings, where you will see a new option available: Wallpaper and sound.
Set custom backgrounds
In Android:
- At the top of the chosen chat, select the menu “…”
- Select a wallpaper from your gallery or library of backgrounds
- Clever
On iOS:
- At the top of a chat, select the group name
- In the Group info (or Chat info) menu, tap the Wallpaper and sound option
- Select the wallpaper you like the most
- Clever
The main objective, according to the popular instant messaging app, is that each chat is personal and distinguishable and that we do not have to worry about sending the wrong message in the wrong conversation. If you still make a mistake, you are always in time to delete the message and place it in the right place. But let it not be said that WhatsApp is not lending us a hand to increasingly personalize our conversations and that we do not have room for unwanted incidents at the conversational level.
And that’s not all, the Facebook-owned messaging platform has also introduced a ton of new bright and dark wallpapers in case you don’t want to search for them yourself. Of course, if you don’t like the collection of WhatsApp wallpapers, you can also choose a custom photo from the phone gallery or you can set solid background colors for clarity and color stability in conversations . To set a custom wallpaper, you can also swipe left or right to preview the wallpapers. Once you are clear about which one you want to use, click -> Set, adjust the dimmer of the wallpaper to set the brightness, and voila.
What if we are using dark mode?
Very easy. We can continue to use custom backgrounds for each of our conversations even if we are using dark mode.
How to change the dark mode wallpaper in WhatsApp
On Android: Activate the dark mode from the settings of your device (if it is Android 10 or higher) or from WhatsApp Settings-> Chats-> Theme (if it is Android 9 or lower). Then follow the steps above to change the wallpaper. The two options need to be saved for their respective modes.
On iOS: Activate dark mode from your device’s settings Change the wallpaper by following the steps above. Again, you need to save the options for the respective light and dark modes.
