Why is Xiaomi triumphing in Spain?

It was clear that COVID-19 was going to cause a turnaround in the smartphone sales market, but what some expected is that whoever took advantage of the pandemic situation, added to Trump’s boycott of Huawei, would be Xiaomi instead of Samsung. I am not going to analyze here why Samsung, despite maintaining its leadership in Europe, has been unable to do so in Spain, and I am going to explain why it is the Chinese Xiaomi which, as its slogan says, ‘has hit it’ until become the undisputed leader in our country.

But first we go with the figures, and then I will talk about two of their latest releases, which continue to distill technological innovation at an ‘honest’ price, as they say in Xiaomi. In the first quarter of 2020, according to the Canalys consultancy, Xiaomi became the best-selling brand with a 28% market share , growing no less than 46% more in the last twelve months. What is really surprising is that Huawei maintains its second place, although it loses 14% compared to the first quarter of 2019. The one who falls the most is Samsung, which does not exceed third place with a market share of 24% and a year-on-year decrease of 22% .

And why does Xiaomí triumph? Honest prices and innovative smartphones with the latest technology. I’m not saying it. His clients, his fans, who are the ones who have made him a leader, say so. And for a sample, its latest launches, Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro and the Redmi Note 9 series, with a Pro version also included, in addition to a Lite Mi 10 for those who have not been able to pay almost a thousand euros for the flagship Mi 10 Pro .

Mi 10 Pro brings photography and video to the forefront with its impressive 108MP prime lens. In addition to taking ultra-clear photos, users can capture scenes in full perspective, thanks to the Mi 10 Pro’s 20MP ultra-wide angle. The device also includes two dedicated telephoto lenses that cover a wide range of focal lengths: from portraits with a 2x zoom, up to 50x magnification of distant subjects thanks to its OIS-stabilized ultra-long-range zoom. The main camera’s laser autofocus module, AI 2.0, night mode 2.0 and dual flash come together to capture detailed daytime photos and brighter, clearer night photos.

Video UHD 8K

In the video section, Mi 10 Pro allows UHD 8K video recording at 30fps, and incorporates recording modes such as vertical video, color focus, ShootSteady, Vlog and slow motion, allowing users to easily create cinema-quality content . Mi 10 Pro also incorporates a Pro mode with additional software options for those looking for an even more professional quality. And it also has a symmetrical double speaker system at the top and bottom. This setup includes two 1216 superlinear speakers and a camera with a width of up to 0.65mm and 0.5mm, respectively.

Mi 10 Pro and Mi 10 incorporate Snapdragon 865, Qualcomm’s latest 5G mobile platform. By improving the performance of the CPU, GPU, artificial intelligence and the overall user experience, this 7 nanometer chipset has a maximum processing speed of 2.84GHz and incorporates improvements in energy efficiency. In addition, it comes with a combination of storage and ultra-high-speed RAM (LPDDR5 and UFS3.0), which guarantees greater capacities for writing and reading computational data.

Almost a thousand euros

I could continue to reel off the capabilities and innovations of Xiaomi’s flagship smartphone, which does not cost the 1,500 euros of the device with which it could be compared, the Apple 11 Pro Max, and yes 999 euros, on the verge of a thousand euros that already give chills be spent on a mobile phone by now. But it is that for the user who does not want to spend these amounts, Xiaomi has announced a few days ago other two teams with great features at much cheaper prices.

I am referring to the new Redmi Note 9 and 9 Pro, teams that do meet that maximum of honest prices that the Chinese brand boasts of. Whoever wants to access them will have to wait a little bit to buy them, but their price will be around or even below 300 euros, and the Pro version will come with a 6.67-inch 2.400 x 1.080 FullHD + LCD screen pixels; with Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G processor; two internal storage options, 64GB and 128GB, among other features, to continue weighing the market.
