The Seattle-based retail giant claims its delivery drone can reach up to 25 kilometers per hour and has the ability to fly horizontally, like a conventional airplane, and vertically, like a helicopter. In this way, it is able to rise and land with great dexterity in the client's home. Those responsible for Amazon have set the goal of delivering a package of up to three kilos in just half an hour , thanks to a service they have called Prime Air .
The drone has eight rotors assembled two by two that provide the necessary thrust to lift it to a maximum height of 120 meters . It should be noted the large spoiler on its rear, which allows it to move horizontally during flight.
This prototype also incorporates sensors that detect and avoid possible obstacles in flight in order to guarantee delivery, which takes place on the doorstep of the house or garden, and comply with current regulations in the United States, which until now do not allow the flight of commercial drones beyond the field of vision of the operator. On the contrary, countries such as the United Kingdom and Canada are more receptive to hosting such a service in the near future.
