“Migraine, especially its chronic form, has a great impact on the quality of life of patients. These people are twice as likely to suffer from depression, anxiety and chronic pain , as well as respiratory disorders and cardiovascular risk factors, so they need more health care. However, many cases wait to be diagnosed and treated ”, explains Dr. David Ezpeleta, Coordinator of the Headache Study Group of the Spanish Neurology Society (SEN).
Here are some interesting facts about this ailment:
1.- Migraine is, according to the WHO, one of the 20 most disabling diseases that exist .

The cause of migraine is unclear, but scientists believe it is due to a disturbance in the balance of serotonin . What researchers have already ruled out is the idea that the disease is caused by insufficient blood supply to the brain.
Most migraines do not have other serious neurological symptoms, but 10-15% of them do.
