13 PS3 games that we will never see (unfortunately) on PlayStation Plus and that I will always miss

With the PlayStation Plus games of February 2019, Sony has ended the incentives on PS3 and PS Vita , as it had anticipated last year, by not adding any more titles for them in March.

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is a good farewell to this PS3 catalog, but we are saddened to see how this door ends up closing with many exclusives left in the pipeline without Plus .

3D Dot Game Heroes

As a game clearly inspired by the 8-bit adventures of the 80s, such as The Legend of Zelda, Silicon Studio’s voxelada proposal with 3D Dot Game Heroes did not go beyond the anecdote of its graphic section and the sword that we could manage, taking up a lot of screen. But it is one of those rarities that remains exclusive to the Sony console and has been completely discontinued.

Folklore

Folklore was one of the first interesting exclusives that PS3 received, although it did not really enjoy outstanding reviews or accompanying sales to make it known to the general public. But since its creators, Game Republic, closed down in 2011, but not before having given us the highly recommended Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom, it would have been nice to have remembered this forgotten game from 2007, a not inconsiderable action-RPG.

GTI Club +: Rally Côte d’Azur

GTI Club was one of Konami’s most beloved and fun arcades of the mid-1990s, hence I was happy to see how this 1996 classic was spiced up for PS3 via PlayStation Store in 2008. The bad? That this only domestic conversion was exclusive to the Sony console and its license expired in 2012, so it is no longer possible to purchase this version. Too bad Konami didn’t offer it for the Plus catalog before then.

Killzone 2 | Killzone 3

Without being particularly a fan of the Killzone, it grinds me quite a bit that the only installment that was included in this subscription service was the Mercenary on PS Vita. No sign of the PS3 Killzone (not the sequel or Killzone 3), which, by the way, shut down their servers in 2018. And they piss on the forgettable Killzone: Shadow Fall on PS4.

MotorStorm | MotorStorm: Pacific Rift

MotorStorm was one of my first experiences with the PS3, something that should not be surprising either, knowing that it was one of the first titles to debut on the Sony console. Evolution Studios, the creators of the WRC saga (and the Driveclub, already on PS4, shortly before its closure) showed how well they were at racing on land and enjoyed a sequel ( MotorStorm: Pacific Rift ) in 2008. However , in PlayStation Plus only have been MotorStorm: Apocalypse and MotorStorm RC. Is rare.

Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch

The idea of ending up watching Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch on PS Plus never seemed far-fetched to me, specifically shortly before the release of its (standalone) sequel, Ni no Kuni II: Rise of a Kingdom on PS4. After all, it is not the first time that this resource has been used to increase the interest of a sequel, but this was not the case. Luckily, the PS3 adventure is still very easy to see and at prices of laughs for the Ghibli fan.

Ratchet & Clank: Armed to the Teeth | Ratchet & Clank: Trapped in Time

Coincidentally, the Ratchet & Clank of PS4 on PlayStation Plus last year was accompanied by the sad news of the discontinuity of PS3 and PS Vita in that service for March 2019. Luckily that this duo that emerged on PS2 did enjoy more incentives in this service, but the more than recommended Ratchet & Clank: Armed to the Teeth (2007) and Ratchet & Clank: Trapped in Time (2009) from PS3 have remained in the pipeline.

Resistance 2 | Resistance 3

Without being a fan of the Resistance either , I do regret having left both its sequel and Resistance 3 half way, clearly superior (in my view) to the more than expendable first installment. However, incredible as it may sound, there has been no Resistance on PS Plus .

Tales of Xillia

No Tales of has been part of the Plus incentives, but that does not mean that Tales of Xillia has had many ballots to introduce more people to this Bandai Namco saga, especially recently, with the remastering of the fantastic Tales of Vesperia from the past generation. But it is more than evident that JRPGs do not get along very well with these kinds of subscriptions …
