Every year Lonely Planet ranks as the best in travel for next year’s travel and in 2016, the German region of Bavaria landed towards the top of the heap.
“From the cloud-busting Alps to storybook castles, Bavaria has something to delight all travelers,” said Lonely Planet spokeswoman Dr Stephanie Mair-Huydts. “Whether in the brewery or on the ski slope, Bavarians really know how to be good hosts.” Bavaria also observed the 500th anniversary of the beer purity law in 2016, making it the perfect year to be included on the list.
Lonely Planet’s list is a long-awaited ranking of the world’s most popular destinations and often carries some weight when it comes to directing travelers’ plans, so being listed can be a boon for any destination.
Jens Huwald, Managing Director of Bayern Tourismus Marketing, said: “We are delighted that Bavaria is included in the top 10 regions of 2016. We are proud that with its multifaceted offerings from thriving metropolises to living traditions, from famous royal palaces to national parks unspoilt, Bavaria fascinates more and more people «.
