ADAC: "Nobody escapes the traffic jam anymore"

Just at the start of the summer vacation in Bavaria, an accident occurs on the busy A99 – the motorway is fully closed. The recovery work takes hours. Holiday travelers need patience.

Munich – tourist traffic, construction sites and then a truck accident on a busy route: At the beginning of the Bavarian school holidays, there were kilometers of traffic jams in the Free State.

“An accident on the A99 east bypass Munich in the direction of Salzburg led to massive traffic obstructions,” said a spokesman for the police in Upper Bavaria North. The lane in the direction of Salzburg was completely closed.

In the rear-end collision with two articulated lorries near Kirchheim near Munich, lye leaked. The recovery of the vehicle and the cleaning of the motorway should take until the afternoon, according to the police. A diversion has been set up.

“Nobody can escape the traffic jam”, predicted the ADAC automobile club in its traffic jam forecast for July 30th to August 1st. At the weekend there is a risk of long journeys to and from the vacation spot. Long waiting times are still expected at the border crossings to Austria due to the corona controls there. Bavaria was the last of the 16 federal states to start the summer vacation on Thursday. dpa
