Oldenburg – 25 snails competed in Oldenburg. The winner of the race was a mollusk named Speedy Gonzales, as a spokeswoman for the Oldenburg International Film Festival announced.
The snail with the house made the 33 centimeter long route within 3 minutes and 28 seconds. The animal received a head of lettuce as a prize, and trainer Rudi received a season ticket for the film festival in Lower Saxony with the motto “Fast and Furious – Back to Culture”.
After the race, the film "Little Snail, Big Dream" was shown, for which there were around 40 places. The snails that took part in the race should then be returned to their home gardens.
The film festival, which focuses on independent film, starts on September 15 and features premieres and debut films. Due to the corona pandemic, the number of seats in the cinemas is limited, and films can also be streamed from the living room at home. Interested parties need tickets. dpa
