Exploded house in Bavaria – connection to Saxony?

A house collapses after an explosion, followed by a fatal car accident. The police are following a lead in Saxony – there was an apartment on fire.

Rohrbach an der Ilm / Lugau – The investigators suspect a connection between the explosion of a semi-detached house in Bavaria and a fire in an empty apartment in Saxony. A police spokesman in Ingolstadt said on Friday evening.

The house and the apartment belonged to the missing residents from Rohrbach an der Ilm in Bavaria. The media had previously reported on the investigation into the fire in the Saxon town of Lugau on Thursday afternoon.

According to investigators, the explosion was probably caused by gas on Thursday afternoon in Rohrbach an der Ilm (Pfaffenhofen an der Ilm district). A married couple is missing – a 55-year-old man and a 54-year-old woman. It was not yet possible to say on Friday whether the two people killed were the two missing.

In addition, there was a fatal traffic accident about 20 minutes after the house explosion. A car drove into an oncoming truck on the B300 in Schrobenhausen, 30 kilometers away. The car caught fire and, according to the police, the person behind the wheel burned beyond recognition. There was a gas bottle in the car, as the police confirmed on Friday. dpa
