At the end of July, Netflix presented the latest results for the second quarter of 2021. In them, the company claims to have 208 million subscribers worldwide. It is the world’s leading audiovisual content platform. Netflix wants to continue growing, and for this it needs to access new markets, so it is testing a new free plan in some countries .
Netflix, like other subscription services, offered a free trial month. In other words, new users had the possibility to enjoy all the content on the platform without paying a single euro for 30 days . However, Netflix no longer offers this first month of free trial, so to be able to watch the series and movies you have to pay the subscription from the first moment.
How does Netflix’s new free plan work?
With the aim of accessing new markets, Netflix is testing a free plan in Kenya that is unlimited in time . Now, it has a little “catch”: the catalog is limited. That is, users can access the platform completely free of charge to watch series and movies, but only to a selection chosen by the company itself.
But what kind of content is accessible without paying anything? Episodes of the most popular series, and even some complete seasons . However, the rest of the catalog is outside the free plan.
To this must be added that users cannot view content on televisions and computers, only on Android mobile devices .
For now, the new free plan only works with the Netflix app on Android and in Kenya . We will see if in the coming weeks or months it crosses the borders of the African country and spreads to the rest of the world.
The company trusts that, with this plan, users will switch to one of the paid subscriptions to finish watching the series that have started, as well as films and documentaries. And not only that: also to be able to see the contents on televisions and computers.
