In retirement home: hashish plant unwittingly grown

A 91-year-old draws plants on her balcony in a retirement home in Swabia. However, one of them is taken from her by the police – after some persuasion.

Krumbach – A 91-year-old unknowingly grew a hash plant on her balcony in a retirement home in Bavarian Swabia. An employee of the home in Krumbach in the Günzburg district had noticed the plant with a suspicious appearance and alerted the police.

The then moved on to an operation on Sunday afternoon. "The resident was completely surprised because she did not know the name of the plant and knew nothing about a ban on cultivation," the police reported on Monday. "Since she liked the plant, however, and had cherished and cared for it for a long time, she did not agree with the security officers." The "Augsburger Allgemeine" had reported on the incident.

Only with good persuasion and after repeated declarations was the elderly woman still ready to voluntarily surrender it. How the 91-year-old got the seed could not be determined at first. She will not get her beloved plant back. The plant must be destroyed in the foreseeable future because it is a narcotic, an official said on Monday. dpa
