“The Squid Game” has become a mass phenomenon on Netflix, to the point that it is on its way to becoming the most watched series on the platform, and everyone is hoping it will have a second season. In the absence of official confirmation from the company, taking into account the excellent audience data and that the first season has left the plot awaiting resolution, everything indicates that it will be like this. For days there has been a most crazy theory about the second season of “The Squid Game” circulating on the Internet, and it is worth commenting.
All of us who have seen the first nine episodes of the series have witnessed all kinds of ghoulish games. In the last chapter one of the main secrets of the game has been revealed: player 001, Oh Il-nam , an old man with a brain tumor, is by no means the vulnerable and innocent character that we all thought he was. Quite the contrary: he is the creator of the game and, therefore, he was never in danger, much less died.
At the end of the ninth chapter, the old man says that the games were created because life can get very boring , whether you are too poor or have a lot of money.
But what is the theory that many fans of the series share? It was the ticktoker @ruthbellpan who shared it: Oh Il-nam could be the biological father of Seong Gi-hun , the protagonist of “The Squid Game.”
There are several details on which it relies to make such a claim:
- Seong Gi-hun tells that he was abused in his childhood, something that also happened to the old man’s son.
- Oh Il-nam asks the protagonist if it is the 24th since his children’s birthday is approaching. Seong Gi-hun’s birthday is on the 26th.
- When they play marbles, both characters recognize that this is the place where they grew up.
- Oh Il-nam lends the jacket to Seong-Gi hun after he had given him his when the old man urinated on himself. Then Oh Il-nam gives him that garment as a form of protection since the soldiers would not shoot at player number 001.
