The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends that caesarean sections do not exceed 10 percent and a maximum of 15 percent of births. However, in many countries many more are done than recommended.
Perhaps for many of us it is not clear what it takes to perform them, but thanks to a viral video, we can clearly know all the cuts and movements that are made during this important surgery .
Jesse Franks is a blogger and mother of three who has a Facebook page where she talks about childbirth, mothers’ mental and emotional health, and also seeks to raise awareness about caesarean sections and what they represent for women’s health .
One of her projects was the video that we will share, and which is inspired by another that she saw a few years ago, which shows the various layers of skin and tissue that were cut when performing a cesarean section .
With just a few sheets of felt, Jesse teaches us and explains all the cuts and movements that must be done during a cesarean delivery to get the baby out:
The video naturally went viral, as it teaches us in a simple, practical and clear way, everything that happens in the woman’s body during this important surgery , which, although it saves lives, should only be performed in specific and necessary cases.
” What better way to explain the seriousness of caesarean sections than something you can touch? Being able to see and touch all those layers, ” he shared in an interview for Motherly.
Educating women on the childbirth procedures that exist, from what they are to the risks that exist in each one, is very positive so that everyone can make informed and conscious decisions, also helping to have better childbirth experiences.
