Aston Martin has kept his word and has worked the miracle, taking two fully modified AMR22 to the Barcelona pitlane. The technicians of the Silverstone team have worked hard to complete the assembly of the car that should be released in free practice for the 2022 Spanish Grand Prix.

As we had anticipated at Motorsport.com, the team in green has gone from the double bottom to the inclined tunnels. Giorgio Piola ‘s image shows us the layout of the radiators, which have changed to a vertical shape and tilted forward, while in Miami they were horizontal and mounted at the top to allow air to pass through the double bottom.

The solution that the engineers adopted in January did not give the expected results and they put a plan in motion well before the presentation that was held on February 9. Red Bull and Alfa Romeo exes Dan Fallows and Luca Furbatto respectively got their hands on the English car to get the team back to where they wanted to be.
The team’s chief executive, Lawrence Stroll , did not hesitate to give the go-ahead to remake the car with which he got the first points of the year in Imola, repeating shortly after in Miami, after the updates that were implemented.
At the Montmeló circuit there should be a turning point in the season, although it is fair to give Aston Martin a couple of grand prix to learn from a car that has little to do with the one that debuted in Bahrain. With a different configuration of the radiators , not only the aerodynamic philosophy has changed, but also the weight distribution, which has required a rebalancing to provide more agility.
The car, while keeping the same Mercedes chassis and power unit, comes close to Red Bull’s technical options with Fallows, and the Adrian Newey -like bottom and diffuser should come as no surprise.
The British team is focusing on what it has shown to date, and is preparing to move up the constructors’ standings, where they are ninth. The technical staff intend to continue to evolve this B version of the car, and hope to introduce another upgrade package before the summer break.
