F1 hosted its first grand prix at the Miami International Autodrome on May 8, welcoming a crowd of more than 80,000 fans to the track built around Hard Rock Stadium .
It was a great sign of the rise in popularity of F1 in the United States, demonstrating the great progress it has made with a second grand prix that coexists with the appointment of Austin to be held in October.
In addition, in the final part of the 2023 season, a third race will be held in the United States, the Las Vegas Grand Prix.
But Miami is determined to continue celebrating his career in early May, fitting in with the other major sporting events taking place at Hard Rock Stadium. The Miami Open tennis tournament usually takes place between mid-March and early April, while the Miami Dolphins ‘ NFL season starts in September and ends in February at the latest.
Asked by Motorsport.com if he expected to keep the job in early May, Miami Grand Prix manager Tom Garfinkel commented that the date “will be week up or week down, but at this time of year, every year.” .
“We have the tennis tournament, so this is the date on the calendar,” Garfinkel said.
“It could be a week before or a week after, depending on what’s going on that year. But it will be right around this time.”

The exact date for the Las Vegas GP has not yet been announced, but it will take place on a Saturday night in November 2023, when the calendar will go to 24 races.
With the three US races taking place in different time zones, they are expected to cater to different fan markets, and Garfinkel doesn’t think the date split is too important.
“I don’t know if that’s that important,” Garfinkel said.
“I think it’s great that there are three races in America. It’s great that there’s one in Vegas. I’m excited to see a night race on a Saturday night. I think it’s fantastic for Formula 1, for motorsports in America. And we welcome you.”
“We believe that when the tide rises all the boats rise, so we hope we can introduce the sport to more people who haven’t been able to enjoy it here, and we hope Las Vegas does the same.”
Miami is the current race on the F1 calendar with the longest contract in the United States, 10 years. The Austin deal runs for five years, while the Las Vegas deal spans three years beginning in 2023.
