The Alpine F1 team and the Austrian water treatment company have made official the signing of a “long-term strategic partnership” that will start this 2022 season and in which BWT will become the main partner of the team.
Now, the team of Fernando Alonso and Esteban Ocon will officially be called BWT Alpine F1 Team and the announcement confirms that the well-known pink color that characterizes BWT will be incorporated into the Alpine livery.
However, and unlike what we saw when BWT was the main sponsor of Racing Point, the Alpine A522 that we will meet on February 21 will not be completely pink, but will maintain the traditional blue as the main color.
The arrival of BWT in Alpine has been talked about for a long time, and this Friday it has been confirmed. According to the statement, “BWT and Alpine will work together to spread the message of sustainability around the world using the combined global platforms of Formula 1 and the automotive industry.”
“We are pleased to announce that BWT will be the titular partner of the Alpine F1 Team for the next few years,” said Cédric Journel , Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Alpine.
“Alpine and BWT’s sustainability agendas are completely aligned on eliminating single-use plastics and we are pleased to join forces to convince many people around the world – our employees, partners, customers and fans – to reduce plastic waste”.
“In parallel, we will use the huge global platform that F1 provides to support BWT in its fight against the unfair distribution of clean, safe and healthy drinking water.”
BWT (short for Best Water Technology ) is one of the world’s leading suppliers of water treatment systems and has been in F1 for a number of years since joining Force India . When Racing Point became Aston Martin, BWT stayed with them but reduced their involvement, and we only saw thin pink lines on the British team’s car in 2021.
However, for this 2022 Aston Martin and BWT separated their paths and the Austrian company now joins Alpine. In addition, former Racing Point and Aston Martin principal Otmar Szafnauer is also expected to sign for Alpine as team principal.
What will Alpine’s pink and blue car look like for F1? We still have to wait 10 days to check it.
