In a recent interview, the main adviser of the Austrian structure, Helmut Marko , praised Yuki Tsunoda’s speed, but acknowledged that the Japanese “always explodes on the radio”.
The one from AlphaTauri, who currently sits 16th in the drivers’ standings with 11 points, is better known for his radio messages than for his results on the track, one of the reasons why Red Bull has hired a psychologist to help you control your anger.
The Japanese driver acknowledges that he already worked with one during his only season in Formula 2, something that he thinks helped him make the leap to Formula 1, so he hopes that the new psychologist will give him “more consistency”.
“Yes, I already worked with another psychologist in Formula 2,” Tsunoda said in response to Marko ‘s comments during the Austrian Grand Prix weekend.
“I’m very happy… At the time I was already very happy to work with one and, furthermore, it was key for me to make the leap to Formula 1”.
“I can say that they [Red Bull] hired a new psychologist about four races ago.

“I don’t know if it’s working right now or not. If it was working well, I think he wouldn’t have had the accident [at Silverstone with his teammate Pierre Gasly], but it’s something that goes little by little, that takes a while, because he has to understand me more, and we also have to understand which direction we have to go.”
“But yeah, I think it’s obvious that one of the limitations I have is that I get quite hot…especially mentally, when I’m in the car.”
“I also know that I have to improve in that aspect so that I can be more consistent as well.”
“So I hope that the help of the new psychologist works and we can work well so that everything will be better in the future,” Yuki Tsunoda concluded.
Many riders from the premier classes of motorsport and motorcycle racing have been very open about this topic in recent years, including McLaren’s Lando Norris, Mercedes’ George Russell, and reigning MotoGP world champion Fabio Quartararo, leaving behind the so famous image that seeking help from a psychologist was a sign of weakness.
