Haas F1 Team has returned to a positive dynamic of results after a series of races in which its performance seemed to plateau. Despite the lack of updates to the car, both drivers finished in the points at both Silverstone and the Red Bull Ring.
At the British Grand Prix, Magnussen finished tenth and Mick Schumacher eighth, marking the first time the German driver had finished inside the points zone in Formula 1. At the Austrian Grand Prix, things went even better, with one eighth and one sixth place.
And the team principal, Steiner , was satisfied about it: “It has been an almost perfect weekend. There are always little things that can be improved to win everything, but nobody can always win in Formula 1”.
“It was a good weekend in Austria, almost everything was done well. Few mistakes were made and nothing went wrong. Every little step can make a big improvement, so I’m still confident and dream of one day being on the podium.”
However, in the American team they prefer to stay alert ahead of the next two races that will take place in France and Hungary: “We must not get too excited at the moment, but it is not an easy job either. But of course, we hope to score more points and have a more relaxed summer break.
With the points achieved in recent rounds, the team of Kevin Magnussen and Mick Schumacher has climbed to seventh position in the constructors’ championship and Steiner hopes to stay there until at least the end of this season.
“If we finish seventh or sixth, I’ll be happy. I think anything above sixth is very difficult. The teams in front of us are a bit quicker, but maybe with hard work we can get to sixth.”
“First we have to try to consolidate seventh place. The motivation is good after the last two weekends. Our car is good on almost all the tracks, except the ones that are particularly fast like Jeddah, Baku or the ones that will come after the stop, like Spa and Monza. But I think we can score again this weekend [in France] if we do everything right again. Let’s hope the reliability remains the same.”
