At the helm of HRC in 2022, Pol Espargaró has become the spearhead of the brand with the golden wing in the premier class.
During this season, the Spaniard is the only official Repsol Honda Team rider, due to the absence of his box partner, Marc Márquez. Instead, HRC is supported by its test driver, Stefan Bradl.
The first requests from the Japanese manufacturer’s riders, especially Pol Espargaró , came in 2021, a season in which HRC focused its roadmap on improving the grip at the rear of the RC213V .
For his part, his boxing partner, Marc Márquez, relied on control of the front end to be able to enter the corners more competitively.
However, the guidelines of the starting drivers do not seem to have borne fruit in the Japanese team, even less with the absence of their eighth champion in the box. This led to a season where Honda is at a loss regarding the development of its prototype.
Just as this situation affects the Japanese group as a group, the protagonists also suffer the consequences. However, it is not the first time that Pol Espargaró has faced a complex situation in his MotoGP career.
“I have resorted to a sports psychologist, but not in a negative way. I have needed him when I have been at my best”, evaluated Pol Espargaró in the last Estrella Galicia match.
“The KTM years I spent the first three years swallowing a lot of dust, working a lot without many results and in the last year I got five podiums and a couple of poles, and getting where I wanted to get upset me a little.”
“I was a bit like ‘okay, now what, where do I have to go?’ I was so used to bad things that when good things came I didn’t know how to deal with it and decided to turn to a sports psychologist”, confirmed the Granollers rider.
