Lucho Velasco and the resurrection in "La reina del flow"

In the second season, the series surprised with the return of one of its villains. The actor gets back into the skin of “Manín” and told how the transformation has been to play the evil man who is in search of revenge.

What will be the mission of “Manín” in this second season of “La reina del flow?

Manín returns in this second season turned into the greatest demon that can exist for the protagonists. For me he is a devil who reincarnates to persecute his love and to do a lot of harm to the woman who put him in and put him in jail for four years.

How was the construction of this character with those characteristics?

Manín is a character that was already armed, but now returns in this second season. It was necessary to reinterpret a bit, because he comes from spending four years in an American jail and in my psyche I imagined that the man only interacted with Mexicans in that ward, that’s why the change of appearance to camouflage himself, and that makes him look more demonic. That is why he adopted that position that comes from the Mano Salvatrucha, from El Salvador, and those prisons so heavy, which have a whole mix of Latino characters. That was a bit of the inspiration to be able to achieve the look.

How was the “styling” proposal and the “look” with which the character is presented this season?

It was a proposal from me as an actor, from the makeup and production managers; that’s why we started to remove his hair, beard and mustache. We arrived at the look so defined that he is that man with a strange skin color, completely shaved, without eyebrows, a guy who is intimidating only with his outfit and his body posture.

Have you felt on the networks that the followers claim you for your role?

All the time is passing. The interaction that artists have with our audience today through social networks is impressive. Those questions of why he is wrong or why he did this or that, they ask them every day and we are in that constant exchange of answers towards them. I love that, because it is also a feedback that tells you how you are doing your job and how people are taking it.

Have you come to judge the character?

I never judge the characters, nor do I endorse them. It is like real life, you have to let them be like life itself and in that case if I judge that character I could not act it, since he is a demon and there are no arguments to be one. It must be very difficult.

Being Lucho Velasco, how do you see his character?

As a viewer, I love seeing this character. It’s dark and you know it’s going to cause a stir every time it comes out. As a viewer, I’m bad, I hardly watch TV, but now that the series has started, I’m watching it and I’m anxious to see what will happen. I try to get rid of the actor who plays it and be one more spectator and I love it that way.

Did you expect the news to revive “Manín”?

I received the news in Cartagena with the India Catalina awards, two years ago, because many of the actors and the production were nominated for the first season of La reina del flow. We were all gathered and the directors came to tell us that they were going to revive Manín and for me it was a surprise and the best award that I have been able to receive, more than any other, that my character came back to life.

How complex was the process of reinterpreting the character?

After I read the script I began to prepare the character, his psyche, the character. I began to analyze what things other actors could offer me. Acting is a bit of give and take, and for this occasion it was a bit neutral, to see what could come out on set and that’s how it happened.

Why can’t the public miss the second season of “La reina del flow”?

La reina del flow 2 is one of the best novels that have been made in Colombia. We have an Emmy and this second season is loaded with much more important production values, with more forceful performances and with new characters, as well as music, dances, with beautiful women, with handsome men. It is a series that I know is going to give something to talk about again in the whole world.
