The heavy rain in the morning, which remained more or less intense until shortly before the start of the second free practice of the Dutch Grand Prix , gave the drivers a break in FP2, as they were able to mount dry slick tires 20 minutes from the end, Fabio Quartararo being precisely the first to do so, followed by Luca Marini who quickly lowered the times and took first place, still far from the reference times of the circuit.
In the last twelve minutes of the session, with the track improving every minute, the times began to plummet, going from 1.40 at the start of the session to 1.33.274, which Bagnaia closed to lead, also far from 1.31.814 with which Maverick Viñales took pole last year.
Behind the Ducati rider finished Aleix Espargaró, with two fastest laps in a medium 1.33, and Fabio Quartararo, who eventually moved up in the table. Alex Rins was fourth, with Jack Miller, the fastest in the wet in the morning (º.42.589) fifth, ahead of Joan Mir and Viñales himself.
Brad Binder finished with the eighth fastest time, closing the top 10 with Johann Zarco and Marco Bezzecchi, who recovered from a crash, the second of the day for him.
Temporarily out of Q2 this Saturday, Enea Bastianini, Luca Marini, Alex Márquez, Jorge Martín or Pol Espargaró finished, suffering from their respective injuries to their right hand and ribs, which made them give up attacking time, completing just 17 laps each.
