With a long lap penalty behind him, Jack Miller began the tenth race of the year full of motivation to face a Sunday on a track not entirely favorable for Ducati. However, the history of the red garage changed completely when its regular driver crossed the checkered flag as the third fastest.
“It’s been a very long race. The heat generated by these bikes is impressive,” the Australian introduced during the German Grand Prix. “I felt good, I was able to attack under braking.”
“I have regained confidence, the level of grip was very low, there was little grip, especially at the beginning,” Miller completed after finishing.
The long lap, received after falling in FP4 while the yellow flag was waving, did not prevent the Australian from fixing third place in the German event. Satisfied with his podium finish, the Australian reviewed the most critical moments of the race.
“I didn’t have the best start. I almost fell on the long lap, there were stones on the asphalt, and I ran over them but I didn’t lose much time. It was probably one of the most dangerous moments of the race. There was gravel, stones and almost I lose the front train”.
“I didn’t lose too much time and I felt good in my rhythm,” Miller explained about serving the penalty. “I managed my time and was quite behind Aleix [Espargaró], but I was only able to overtake him when he made a mistake. I’m sorry for Pecco [Bagnaia], he didn’t do anything wrong, there was little grip and he fell”, he expressed regarding his teammate.
This is the third podium for Miller, the most difficult for the official Ducati rider.
“It was a very physical [race]. The truth is that we can all agree that it was the most physical race of the year.”
