Honda confirms that they expect Márquez "before the end of the season"

Two weeks after his operation, Marc Márquez received permission from the doctors to start walking, training and performing mobility exercises, in charge of speeding up the rehabilitation process to which he is subject after his fourth step in the operating room.

48 hours after being seen walking around Madrid, his current residence, Marc Márquez hints that the recovery is progressing favourably. This affirmation was joined by Alberto Puig , who, during the German Grand Prix, confirmed the good feelings of the driver from Cervera.

“He is very happy, the truth is that he is fine,” Puig introduced to the DAZN microphones. “Since he arrived from the United States, he has entered into a dynamic of feeling well. He is very optimistic and positive.”

Since his operation at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, #93 has been wearing a sling. Likewise, the situation will require regular visits by the Spanish rider to the doctor to confirm progress and check the status of his humerus.

“Little by little he has started to move his hand and be active, he is not on the couch,” Puig added. “Now he is going to have a first check-up with the doctor and the rest of the doctors.”

“He’s fine and normally you already know how he is. If you don’t notice anything and the days go by without pain, that’s very positive.”

This step forward in Marc’s recovery is supervised by Samuel Antuña, responsible for his third and penultimate shoulder operation in December 2020.

“The term in an operation is fixed when there is consolidation of the bone. Everyone knows how long it takes to consolidate. The important thing is that there are no complications, everything is going very well”, confirmed Puig.

Thus, the HRC team manager did not deny that the #93 could make an appearance at the end of the season.

“I don’t know [when he will be able to return], but the doctor has already said that when the bone is consolidated and the CT scan says that there is no problem, he can return.”

In the last third of the season, the premier class has a test in Misano . Scheduled for the next 6 and 7 September, both days could be the perfect setting to receive the eighth champion back.

“It will be very important for me to be able to come back and test the bike at the end of the season,” Puig said. “We have training sessions and tests that are very important for the development of the bike.”
