Alex Rins, Pecco Bagnaia and Takaaki Nakagami were involved in the first accident of the MotoGP test. All three drivers crashed at the first corner of the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, just a few seconds after starting the ninth round of the season.
The incident occurred a few days after Rins’ controversial statements about Nakagami, in which he accused the Japanese of being too dangerous a driver.

Nakagami hit Pecco Bagnaia’s rear wheel with his head. The Japanese’s front end closed and he hit the Italian driver’s wheel, in an action that took his breath away, especially after seeing that he made Nakagami lose his visor.
At this very moment, Alex Rins was involved in the incident between the two drivers, adding to the multiple crash that stole all eyes from the start of the Catalunya Grand Prix.
The three riders were picking up speed, as they were coming from the start preparing to enter the first corner when the unexpected multiple crash occurred.
The accident was declared a racing incident and none of the three drivers incurred a penalty, but Rins complained of pain in his left wrist and went to the medical center as a precaution.
The Suzuki rider, who adds his third consecutive zero after his team’s announcement that he will leave the world championship at the end of the year, was visibly upset with the Japanese, protesting the action during his return to the box and before going to the services world doctors.
Pecco Bagnaia, meanwhile, has gone from the top to the bottom in just one week. The Ducati rider, the second Italian rider in history to win on an Italian motorcycle at the legendary Mugello track after Dovizioso, leaves the Catalan GP without being able to score points.
Nakagami, who has received Honda’s trust over Pol Espargaró, was unable to test the new parts inherited from Marc Márquez’s bike.
