This weekend, the MotoGP paddock will be installed 200 kilometers southwest of Paris, where the emblematic Le Mans circuit will be the scene of the seventh race of the 21 that make up the 2022 MotoGP calendar.
Following the course of the European round, this appointment will be an essential opportunity for those riders who fight for the points of the premier category, in a weekend where absolutely everything could change.
Taking into account the parameters of Spain, Portugal, Austin, Argentina, Indonesia and Qatar, these are some of the possible protagonists for the French Grand Prix this weekend at Le Mans.
Fabio Quartararo heads the list as the first candidate for the drawer of honor. The French driver is at the top of the standings, and will arrive at his “home” circuit hungry for victory after shining in Spain and Portugal. If we take a look at his record, the boy from the Côte d’Azur has taken pole position twice at this track and, in all likelihood, the defending world champion will go for his third at his local grand prix.
Despite having a great locker in this circuit, Fabio Quartararo is not the driver with the most victories in the French Grand Prix. That place belongs to Marc Márquez, with a total of three first places and four pole positions . This could lead us to think that, if circumstances favor the Cervera rider this weekend, the #93 could add one more to his record, the first of this season.
Aleix Espargaró will also be in this battle, motivated after getting the second position in the qualifying sheet. In this list we should not forget Alex Márquez, who was very fast in the past of the French circuit, achieving a top speed of 323.7 km/h.
With a longer straight of 674 meters, the French circuit witnessed what Johann Zarco’s Ducati is capable of, especially after setting the bar very high in 2018, signing the best pole position and the record in the race. Therefore, the local driver could join the repertoire of drivers who can opt to climb to the top of the Bugatti circuit.
However, we will have to wait until Sunday to know the name of the protagonist. For now, the action on the French track will start on Friday with the seventh MotoGP free practice of the year.
