The victoria de Ducati, an "alivio" for Pecco Bagnaia

After an intense fight against the current world champion, the Ducati rider managed to show himself stronger than Fabio Quartararo and cross the checkered flag as the protagonist of the sixth race of the year, signing his first victory of 2022 this Sunday in the Grand Prix from Spain.

The Italian rider celebrated this first time on the top step of the podium with enthusiasm, as he arrived in Jerez with shoulder pain and a record to recover, due to a not very encouraging start to the season for Ducati . “We have had many difficulties at the start of the season, and since the tests we have not stopped working,” Pecco introduced after finishing the race.

“Last year, in the last races, I overtook Jorge Martín and I was already sure I could win. But here, since I hadn’t been competitive for a long time, I was a bit scared until the end, but we did a great job and We deserve this result, because we have worked very hard”.

“It hasn’t been easy,” he said. “Because we’ve been behind since the beginning of the year, but in the end we were able to fight and win, so I’m very happy”, confirming that, despite his shoulder pain, he has been able to recover the good sensations that Ducati gave him last year .

“Finally everything went well for us and I feel very happy and very happy, because we have our potential again or more because last year at this circuit we couldn’t with respect to Fabio [Quartararo], who was invincible, so today we have achieved something wonderful”.

A victory that, he says, “has been a relief.”

“I think winning here, at a circuit where Fabio [Quartararo] was unbeatable last year, is a great result.”

“We got ten seconds out of third and the pace was unbelievable, I was expecting a good pace, but it was exciting”

“I am very happy, this is a victory also for the people who have helped me, because it has not been easy, so I want to thank all the people who have helped me this week with my shoulder, and I would also like to thank my family”.

“I have spent a lot of time very nervous at home, a difficult but intense period, which has helped me a lot to understand things,” he assured.

Regarding whether he is prepared for the fight for the World Cup, the Italian prefers to stay on the sidelines.

“We’ll see, I wanted to start at this level and we’ll see what I can do,” concluded Pecco Bagnaia.
