Marc Márquez experienced two crashes in a row in the same lap while competing in FP2 of the Spanish Grand Prix. After finishing 11th in the first free practice session of the sixth round of the season, the Honda rider crashed in the sixth and ninth turns of the Andalusian track.
With 20 minutes to go, the eighth champion caused a yellow flag in the second and third sectors of the Jerez Ángel Nieto circuit, and as soon as he got back on the bike, his RC213V went off track again at turn nine, just three laps after have gone to the ground.
The person in charge of taking the Cervera rider back to the garage was Dani Pedrosa, with whom he shared a garage before his retirement in 2018. The Spanish rider was on the road at the same time, and both riders left the track on the scooter of the #26 starring in one of the most iconic moments of Friday’s session.
This situation left Takaaki Nakagami as the first Honda on Friday. The pilot of the LCR team -Honda’s satellite- finished fifth ahead of Brad Binder and the official pilot of the golden wing, Pol Espargaró.
After experiencing two crashes in a row, the Spanish driver said goodbye on Friday in free practice from 19th place in FP2. In addition, Marc Márquez also had a run-in with Aleix Espargaró, after the rider from Granollers showed his dissatisfaction with the gesture of the #93, interpreting his way of riding as an attempt to grab the wheel of his Aprilia. Once again, this type of driving puts the driver from Cervera in the spotlight.
