Repsol Honda dominates a bumpy day in the rain

The rain gave the riders no respite on the first day of the Portuguese Grand Prix, as was already planned, which did not prevent the two riders from the official Honda team from dominating the first two free sessions of the weekend.

If in the morning the best time was established by Marc Márquez (1.50.666), in the afternoon his teammate Pol Espargaró was the fastest (1.50.707), although he did not improve on Marc’s time achieved in FP1, which was the fastest of the day

Behind Pol in FP2, precisely, Márquez finished, followed by Andrea Dovizioso and Pecco Bagnaia, who however suffered a hard crash at turn 3, hitting hard against the gravel run-off. The Italian picked up a handful of gravel from the ground and took it to the Ducati box, to show that the stones are too big and can cut, as happened last year to Jorge Martín, precisely, fifth classified after Pecco.

Alex Márquez was sixth, ahead of Franco Morbidelli, Maverick Viñales, Takaaki Nakagami and local driver Miguel Oliveira, who closed the top 10 of FP2.

Regarding those provisionally classified for Q2 after the day’s combined times, there would be the two Repsol riders, Joan Mir, Marco Bezzecchi, Johann Zarco, Oliveira, Viñales, Martín, Bagnaia and Jack Miller, who suffered a crash in the morning, just like Nakagami and Marini. In the afternoon, in addition to Bagnaia, Bezzecchi and Zarco crashed, all of them without consequences.
