The first race in MotoGP history was marked by rain and unexpected guests. Akira Ryo (Suzuki) and Shinichi Ito (Honda) made things difficult for Rossi at the Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuka, but riding the all-powerful Honda RC211V, the Italian began the four-stroke era as the two-stroke ended times, winning
In 14 of the 18 MotoGP seasons Rossi has been able to win at least one race, reaching a total of 78. Among his multiple records, there is also the fact of being one of the five pilots in history who has won races with two brands, Honda and Yamaha.

Biaggi was Rossi’s great rival in his early years in the premier class. The Roman stood up to the Yamaha, of which he always complained of being inferior. When he went to Honda and Rossi to Yamaha, things continued the same or worse for the Roman. Five wins in MotoGP, with Yamaha and Honda.
He rode for the official Yamaha and Honda teams, but with neither of them did he become MotoGP world champion.

Pedrosa came to MotoGP with high expectations, after winning three consecutive titles of 125 and 250. He almost won in his first race, but it was not until the fourth in China that he won for the first time.
Various circumstances have meant that Pedrosa has never won the MotoGP title. In spite of everything, he has achieved three sub-championships and 31 victories.

The Australian has been the only rider to win the MotoGP title with Ducati to date.
Who knows where Casey’s limit was. The two-time MotoGP champion retired at the age of 27 and 38 victories. Even today he is the fourth rider with the most wins in the category.

Jorge Lorenzo burst into MotoGP as if he had been racing there all his life. He got the pole in his first race and won in the third. A series of falls and injuries somewhat extinguished his star the rest of the year.
In his nine years with Yamaha, the Mallorcan accumulated 44 wins – second with the most wins – and three MotoGP titles. At Ducati he achieved three more.

Dovizioso had not had many wins in his career, although in recent years he seems to have been on a roll. The first in MotoGP was achieved in 2009. Seven years would pass until the next.
The Italian has been able to win with two brands, Honda and Ducati.

Marquez had a start from another planet in MotoGP. The Catalan got on the podium in his first race, won in the second and took the title at the end of the season, beating all early records.
At 28 years old, he has won the title six of the eight years he has raced in MotoGP and has 59 victories.

It could not be otherwise, and Jack Miller got his first victory in the middle of a crazy race marked by rain. In a 2016 full of alternatives in MotoGP, the Australian joined the party in the Netherlands. In 2021 he added another two as an official Ducati rider.

At Silverstone in 2016, the Spaniard made it clear that he had a lot to say in the series for years to come.
Yamaha chose Viñales to take Lorenzo’s place. The one from Roses started in a big way, dominating the preseason and winning the first two races. He already has 9 in MotoGP.

19 years have passed since the World Championship gave the green light to four-stroke engines at Suzuka 2002, where Valentino Rossi won.
The MotoGP World Championship has gone through very different stages, from years when the victories were shared by a few, to the present moment, in which almost any rider seems to be capable of winning a Grand Prix.
Portugal was the latest country to join Italy, Spain, Australia, Great Britain, the United States, Japan, Brazil, France and South Africa as countries that have won a race, although the British, Japanese, Brazilian, South African and Portuguese have not yet achieved the drivers title.
