Mobile devices have more and more features and work better. In fact, they facilitate our day-to-day life and keep us informed of everything we require and of the people with whom we want to be connected. However … all that information, all that connectivity, also creates a lot of stress. This is what is called “techno-stress”, as clarified by the Permanent Observatory of Psychosocial Risks of the UGT.
The term was coined in 1997 by Larry Rosen and Michelle Weil where in a book under the same title they explained the psychological addiction that the continued use of technology can entail. It highlighted the need to acquire the latest developments in technology or the impoverishment or disappearance of social relationships.
Techno-stress is a disorder – unfortunately, every day more frequent – in which the individual feels the need to be connected at all times ; This need leads to a feeling of anxiety, stress, nervousness and frustration that can cause dire consequences in our lives if we do not know how to manage it properly.
Young people are the most affected by this type of addiction , manifested above all by the passion for video games or the continued use of smartphones connected to the internet.
