Honda monopolized much of the spotlight this Tuesday at the Misano Circuit in the first of the two days of the official MotoGP test by putting on the track the prototype of what will be the basis of its 2022 bike.
The rain that fell at dawn on the Marco Simoncelli Circuit left the asphalt wet in the early hours of the morning and only eight riders dared to leave the track before noon, when the slicks could already be mounted. Until then, the fastest was Johann Zarco, but Stefan Bradl took center stage with the 2022 RC213V.
In the afternoon, already in dry conditions, all the pilots rolled. The fastest ended up being Pecco Bagnaia , who fell within half a second of the time that gave him pole position here last Saturday at the San Marino Grand Prix. The Italian, who crashed at Turn 10, completed a total of 45 laps and set the final 1m31.524s with less than an hour to go. The Ducati did not get to test the complete 2022 bike, but some loose parts did.
The one who was able to get on the 2022 prototype was Marc Márquez , although he also rode with this year’s bike. The Catalan accumulated 47 laps and finished 15th. His teammate Pol Espargaró was second fastest this Tuesday, one tenth behind Bagnaia, followed by Aleix Espargaró (third) on the Aprilia and Takaaki Nakagami (fourth).
Joan Mir finished fifth to four tenths. Both he and his partner Álex Rins –14th and the one who gave the most laps with 72– They were able to test the 2022 motorcycle that Suzuki has moved to Misano.
Championship leader Fabio Quartararo was sixth and also set up next year’s Yamaha. The rookie Luca Marini finished seventh. Jack Miller started out setting the pace in the afternoon, but eventually dropped to eighth place,
Jorge Martín (ninth) and Brad Binder completed the top 10, while Valentino Rossi on the only day he planned to take part in the test – he will also finally do so on Wednesday – finished 11th with 56 laps. After achieving his first MotoGP podium two days ago, Enea Bastianini was 21st after finishing his day early due to a crash. Maverick Viñales (16th), also went down.
