In the transparent airplanes you will have the sensation of flying on a magic carpet . And we say sensation because in reality we are talking about aircraft that will replace the windows with screens that will show live panoramic images in the cabin obtained by cameras located outside.
The UK's Center for Process Innovation (CIP) develops ultra-flexible OLED sheets that will cover the inside of the fuselages, provide images of the exterior and provide information through augmented reality.
Technicon Design is already working on the Ixion Windowless Jet, a device with the same technology as CIP. And the firm Spike Aerospace expects its Spike S-512 Supersonic Jet to debut in 2018, going from New York to London in four hours. It will also replace the windows and integrate screens such as those described.
But we will have to wait to fly in a true transparent plane. Airbus has presented its Concept Cabin, inspired by the bone structure of birds to reinforce its fuselage and reveal the roof and sides. Take-off date: 2050.
